County Manager Rick Kester opened nominations for chair; a commissioner nominated Patrick Harris and the board approved the nomination by acclamation. The board later opened nominations for vice chair; Butch Lawter (identified in the record as Butch Lawter Junior) was nominated and approved by acclamation.
The board presented outgoing leadership recognition immediately before the reorganization votes. The session then proceeded to routine business, including adoption of the day’s agenda and the consent agenda.
The next scheduled formal meeting to consider pending items is Jan. 5, 2026, when the board indicated it will take up additional agenda items and presented plans for follow-up.
