Residents press board for transparency on Google data center and raise library-content concerns

During the citizen-comment period, several residents used their time to press the board on two recurring community concerns.

On the Google data-center project, speakers asked for detailed disclosures on water consumption, power demands, and grid impacts; they cited court rulings on public-rights-to-know and urged the board to provide data about county water supply, supplier capacity and any regional consumption limits. Speakers expressed distrust of non-disclosure agreements discussed in prior administration communications and called for greater community outreach and study before large commitments are finalized.

Separately, a speaker raised concerns about library curation and challenged the county's approach to certain materials in collections for minors. The commenter called on the board to reconsider practices and said prior counseladvice had limited public accountability; board members responded in later closing remarks defending their integrity and noting process constraints.

No board action was taken during public comment; the remarks were entered into the record for consideration by staff and the board.
