Council hears first step of FY26 budget amendment; $4.3 million in fund‑authority adjustments proposed

Chris York, the city’s budget director, presented the first step of a two‑step amendment to the fiscal‑year 2026 budget. He said the package realigns fund authority and does not create significant new appropriations beyond identified pass‑throughs.
York called out $1.7 million in capital projects fund realignment to provide budget authority to complete projects already in process; a $1 million increase in the fire sales tax fund to support a new wellness program for public‑safety employees; $355,000 to establish the second generation of the Adventure District BID; and a $1.2 million pass‑through reimbursement from the Oklahoma Development Finance Authority to a developer for infrastructure work. He said the total increase proposed in the amendment is $4.3 million and that final adoption will return to the council on Jan. 13, alongside public hearings.
