The Greene County Board of Commissioners approved a slate of reappointments for county department roles and accepted a succession recommendation in the veteran services office.
Unidentified Speaker 1 presented reappointments: Brent Dyer as highway superintendent, Tim Barker as courthouse maintenance superintendent, Terry Jackson as Emergency Management Agency director, David Simpson as ambulance director, and Donald White as weights and measures director. Each reappointment was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
On a separate item, Unidentified Speaker 1 said Richard Nichols recommended stepping down as veteran service officer and nominated Justin Keller to fill the post. "Justin has been working there for quite some time," Unidentified Speaker 1 said; the board moved and approved Justin Keller's appointment by voice vote. Richard Nichols later addressed the board and thanked commissioners for approving an office reorganization and denied rumors that he was retiring, saying, "I'm not retiring." He confirmed the veteran service office will remain in the annex and that Justin will assist in the office.
The transcript records approvals as voice votes without roll-call tallies. The board also thanked the individuals for taking on the county roles.
