Summary

Oxford City Council adopted a resolution authorizing the city manager to enter into an agreement with Milford Township for the provision of emergency medical services to the western portion of the township.
City staff said the current agreement expired Dec. 31 and that the township previously paid $60,000 annually. Council was presented with a five‑year agreement that would increase that amount to $225,800 annually, which staff said represented the township’s "fair share" after adjusting for EMS billing revenue and the percentage of calls from the jurisdiction. The city manager explained the calculation approach: take total EMS expenditures, subtract EMS billing revenue, and apportion the remaining cost by call percentage to arrive at the fair share figure.
Councilors asked whether the new amount covered costs; staff said it was intended to better reflect the township’s share and noted that the township had recently passed a levy that increased available revenue for EMS. The resolution was adopted by voice vote.
Next steps: Staff will execute the five‑year agreement and return to council for future negotiations at the end of the term.
