Plainfield Community School Corporation honors retiring Superintendent Scott Olinger; Andy Allen to succeed him

The Plainfield Community School Corporation honored Superintendent Scott Olinger at its year‑end meeting, recognizing more than 20 years of service to the district and introducing Andy Allen as the incoming superintendent effective Jan. 1.

Board President (name not provided in the transcript) opened the meeting by calling Olinger’s tenure “a legacy of humility and service” and cited projects including the district’s Imagination Lab and community partnerships that, the president said, ‘‘directly impacted our students.’’ The president added that Olinger ‘‘supported families in need’’ through annual United Way involvement and that the district looks forward to Andy Allen ‘‘building upon the strong foundation’’ Olinger created.

Superintendent Scott Olinger, addressing the board and audience, reflected on a 41‑year career and thanked district principals, staff and his family. He said he was ‘‘so thankful’’ for his time in the district and that he believed the team Olinger is leaving behind will allow the incoming superintendent to succeed. ‘‘You’re inheriting a great team,’’ Olinger said of Allen, and he encouraged the board to continue supporting district staff so ‘‘good things will continue to happen.’’

Board members and colleagues offered personal tributes and small tokens of appreciation during the meeting; one speaker noted a retirement event held the prior week and presented gift cards. The board closed the remarks with thanks to Olinger and best wishes for his retirement.

The meeting also included routine district business and votes on consent items, personnel and finance, and the board adjourned following the concluding acknowledgements.
