Andalusia City Council adopted an ordinance Dec. 2 permitting the sale of alcohol on Sundays beginning after 12:00 p.m.

The ordinance allows licensees within Andalusia to sell alcohol on Sundays after noon while requiring compliance with the Alabama Beverage Control Board's existing laws and regulations, the council was told. Mayor (speaking as S1) summarized the terms of the ordinance and, after the voice vote, stated, "The ayes have it and the ordinance is approved." Council discussion on the ordinance was limited; no amendments or conditions were recorded during the meeting.
The ordinance's immediate effect depends on timely publication; the council indicated that notice would likely appear in the Andalusia Star News later this week. The first day the ordinance may be applied would be the first Sunday after that publication.
