She added that the county commission approved the grant on Oct. 28, 2025.
The report described governance changes (adoption and amendment of bylaws, scheduled monthly meetings beginning in 2026), the museum's rebranding to the Museum of Uinta County to reduce confusion with the Western Heritage Museum, and expanded partnerships with UB Tech and USU Vernal for student involvement in masonry trades. England also said the museum was awarded a $5,000 Smithsonian Museum on Main Street grant for sesquicentennial programming and described plans for volunteer training and public engagement.
Commissioners asked clarifying questions about grant timelines and partnerships; England summarized project milestones and outreach plans and said implementation would begin in 2026 with an open-house celebration projected following completion.
