The Village Board approved an amended conditional use permit (CUP) for the Kenosha County Fair Association that narrows older, duplicative conditions and reduces the frequency with which the fair must appear before the board.
Staff said the 2017 CUP (renewed in 2022 with multiple subsequent amendments) had accumulated language and event listings that were either redundant with ordinance requirements or referred to events that fall below the 5,000‑person review threshold. The revised draft removes that excess language and lists only the bare requirements; it requires the fair to hold an annual meeting by Dec. 1 to provide dates, projected attendance, security plans and related details. The fair’s security plan will be vetted annually with the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department.
A fair representative expressed appreciation for staff and board cooperation on narrowing requirements. The board voted to approve the revised CUP by voice vote.
The change is intended to streamline village oversight for routine events while preserving board review for any new events projected to exceed 5,000 attendees.
