JustServe presents Clearfield City award; council, staff applaud volunteer efforts

Clearfield City Council allowed time on the agenda for a formal recognition from the volunteer platform JustServe. Joni Phillips, who introduced herself as a JustServe specialist and Clearfield resident, presented the Clearfield City award and described local volunteer activity.
Phillips traced some local history while framing the recognition: Clearfield was settled in 1877 (earlier known as Sand Ridge), Hill Air Force Base opened in 1940 and the community has since grown into a mix of education, manufacturing and businesses. “Clearfield’s award as a Just Served City is a tribute to the people of our city,” Phillips said, thanking Mayor Shepherd and council and inviting the group to photos and refreshments after the meeting.
Council members applauded the organization and staff noted upcoming volunteer opportunities in the community. The council accepted the recognition and paused the agenda briefly for photos.
