Planning commission postpones Davis Properties pre‑annexation hearing after surge of public comments

The Monroe Planning Commission voted to postpone the public hearing on the Davis Properties pre‑annexation zoning proposal to Jan. 12, 2026, after staff said a large volume of public comments required more time for analysis. Commissioner Brandy moved to postpone and Commissioner Carla seconded; the motion passed on a 4‑0 vote.

Staff told the commission the extra time will allow preparation of additional findings and analysis in response to concerns raised in public comments. The chair said staff will compile all comments and provide them to commissioners at or before the Jan. 12 public hearing, and reminded members of the public that tonight’s general public‑comment period was not the appropriate time to present testimony on that item.

The postponement clears the item from this evening’s agenda and sets the rescheduled public hearing for the Planning Commission meeting on Jan. 12, 2026. No formal public testimony on the Davis Properties proposal was taken at the Dec. 8 meeting; staff said oral testimony will be accepted as part of the official record at the rescheduled hearing.

The commission also approved a separate, procedural agenda amendment to include a presentation and recognition segment later in the meeting to thank outgoing commissioners; that amendment was adopted by motion and a voice vote.
