Wright County certifies emergency sewer repair and delinquent utility assessments for Saint Michael subordinate sewer district

The Wright County Board held public hearings Dec. 16 on an emergency repair to the subordinate sewer district serving part of the City of Saint Michael and on delinquent utility accounts tied to that district.
Resident Greg Ekblad, who identified himself as a Rockford Township resident and former township supervisor, thanked the county for the sewer project but urged that the contract include a separate fund or line item for future repairs so costs would be easier for the city and property owners to track. Ekblad suggested a supplemental agreement or change order process and argued a separated repair fund would simplify payments.
Finance staff explained the emergency repair cost would be spread equally among property owners in the subordinate sewer district and include interest on borrowings; they also confirmed no emergency repair fund or similar reserve has been proposed at this time, though the county plans to consider funding options in 2026 to expedite future emergency work.
After closing the hearings the board adopted resolution 25‑88 certifying the emergency repair special assessment and resolution 25‑87 certifying delinquent utility assessments; both resolutions passed unanimously.
