Northside ISD trustees accepted a presentation Tuesday describing roughly $688,991 in payments from CPS Energy tied to the district's energy-management work.
Jacob (district energy staff) told the board the district curtailed an average of 6,400 kilowatts in 2024 and increased curtailment to about 8,100 kilowatts this summer. "Last year, 2024, the district was able to curtail energy by an average of 6,400 kilowatts, netting the district a $336,000 check," the district presentation said; the superintendent introduced CPS accounts manager Robert Olivares to present the new check.
Robert Olivares, identified as CPS’ key accounts manager, thanked Northside for its participation and said the district represents about 8–9% of the demand-response program’s enrolled capacity in the San Antonio area. Administration said $389,797 of the current total is attributable to demand-response participation and the roughly $300,299 remainder results from equipment rebates tied to energy-efficiency upgrades installed as part of recent construction projects.
Trustees invited Olivares and district energy staff to the dais for a photo and thanked employees for the energy-management work. The board did not take a separate binding vote; the presentation was accepted as informational and the district will process the rebate funds as reported.
