Staff explained the MOU was negotiated with the union, already budgeted for the fiscal year, and would affect seven current employees, with a vacancy that would bring the total to eight if filled. "This resolution, if it passes, it would go into effect today. It would not get, back pay back to April," Speaker 8 told the board during the presentation. Staff estimated the annual cost at roughly $20,000 and said the expense had been included in the current fiscal budget.
Board members moved and seconded the measure; the board voted to approve the resolution. Staff noted the MOU excludes some pay provisions in the union contract (for example, training pay does not stack with supervisor pay when employees train), per the text of the agreement.
The resolution takes effect upon signing by authorized officials; staff indicated the change will be reflected in payroll once the necessary signatures are obtained and administrative steps completed.
