The Enterprise E911 Board on Dec. 2 voted to authorize a three-year agreement for an AI-assisted call-taking and transcription platform known as Prepared. The action followed a work-session briefing in which Chief Moore and staff described the product’s capabilities and funding.
Chief Moore told the council the platform provides "real time transcription and also...it sends to the person in their own language," and can speak back to callers in multiple languages after staff type responses. Staff said the system produces a full summary of each call that can be exported to administrative staff and integrates with the CAD system to expedite information flow to first responders. The presentation noted regional adoption by other Southeast Alabama 911 centers and partial initial procurement by the Alabama 911 board.
At the E911 Board meeting the board moved to authorize the police chief to execute a three-year contract with Prepared by Axion in the total amount of $32,189.50; the motion carried on a voice vote. Staff said the contract is funded through existing E911 funds and includes a one-time hardware cost that may be amortized across the three-year term or deferred to year two to ease budgeting.
Why it matters: Staff said the platform would both speed information flow to responders and automate quality-assurance checks that are currently at risk due to manpower shortages. The board approved the contract as an addition to the E911 agenda following the council work session, and staff will move forward with contract execution.
What's next: The police chief will execute the contract and staff will coordinate hardware installation and CAD integration. The board indicated they will monitor implementation and budget impacts.
