Galena administrator previews capital plan and museum painting; mayor honors late historian Terry Miller

The city administrator reported that staff are working on capital planning and expect to present related materials at the next council meeting. The administrator also said staff hope to have an appraisal and a proposal for a 'peace and union' painting currently stored at the museum and that the painting would be moved next year; further details and formal proposals are expected at an upcoming meeting.
Councilmembers took time to thank public works, police and event staff for snow removal and for supporting holiday events; several members praised the speed and cleanliness of street work during recent storms and the turnout at recent holiday events including fireworks and a community holiday event.
In the mayor’s report the mayor announced the recent death of Terry Miller, described Miller as a person who ran historical sites for the state and who shared photographs the community appreciated, and suggested the city install a plaque in his honor. The mayor offered condolences and recommended the plaque as a way to mark Miller’s contributions to local history.
