Council amends code to align with new backyard‑chicken ordinance (Ord. 1886)

Council approved Ordinance 1886 on Dec. 15 to amend the general offenses code so it no longer conflicts with the recently adopted backyard‑chicken ordinance. Interim city manager and staff explained the change replaces restrictive language in section 6.18.04 to allow keeping chickens in certain zoning districts while prohibiting other livestock and fowl in those zones.
Council voted to waive three readings, pass Ordinance 1886 and publish the ordinance number for the record. Finance staff then presented Resolution 20251202 to incorporate the newly established chicken permit fee into the master fee schedule; council approved that resolution as well.
The ordinance and fee update were framed as housekeeping measures to ensure the municipal code and fee schedule reflect the council’s recent policy decisions.
