Beresford council renews Great Life golf contract, approves 7% fee increase

Beresford City Council voted to renew the city’s annual agreement with Great Life for operation of the municipal golf course and approved the company’s proposed 7% fee increase.
City staff told the council the off-peak green fee would rise from $2.75 to $3 per nine holes with a monthly cap of $2,000, and the peak fee would increase from $4 to $4.50 with a $3,000 monthly cap. Staff said Great Life accounts for roughly 18% of the course’s greens-fee and cart-rental revenue. “We’re seeing a 7% increase in our fees from them,” a city presenter said during the discussion.
Council members raised pace-of-play concerns and discussed staff options to monitor weekend play, including hiring a starter or weekend marshal. Councilmembers said the course’s maintenance and condition helped attract players from the wider region.
A motion to authorize renewal of the Great Life contract was made, seconded and approved by voice vote. The renewal was described by staff as part of an ongoing partnership intended to sustain play and related local sales-tax revenue.
The council approved the contract during the regular meeting; the agreement and any operational adjustments (for example staffing changes to address pace) will be implemented by city staff in coordination with Great Life.
