Alma Martinez Walsh, site director for Orchard's Family Success Center in Sicklerville, presented to the Winslow Township Board of Education on Nov. 25, outlining the center's free, family‑centered services and volunteer opportunities.
Martinez Walsh said the center provides computer access, printing, parental workshops, parent‑child activities, referrals to housing and employment services, Medicaid assistance clinics (Horizon now on the second Tuesday of each month; Aetna added on the third Wednesday), and seasonal distributions including a recent small food pantry and a Thanksgiving turkey giveaway. She invited board and community partnerships and emphasized the center's focus on connecting families to resources to build self‑sufficiency.
Martinez Walsh provided participation metrics: 905 registered families from July 2024 to June 2025 and 386 registered households from July–October 2025 (November not included). She outlined recent events (back‑to‑school fair with 449 attendees and distribution of 200 book bags) and said the center will sponsor 50 children for holiday toys in December.
The board thanked Martinez Walsh and encouraged collaboration between the district and the center to connect students and families with services. No funding or formal partnership agreement was voted on at the meeting.
