Cheekwood reports progress on MOU milestones, fundraising and construction drawings

Jane McLeod, president and CEO of Cheekwood, told the Parks Board that design-development drawings for a planned parking pavilion are complete and that project teams are targeting final construction drawings by the end of the month, subject to pending decisions. She said the organization has reached roughly 85% of its enhanced goal for phase two of the capital campaign and that the planned public phase of fundraising (phase three) is expected to begin in the first half of next year.
McLeod described traffic-management strategies the organization is implementing—time-ticketing, parking fees for non-members, promotions and use of a Cheek Road entrance for service vehicles—and said a privacy fence installed in June has helped screen sight lines for neighbors. She thanked the board for extending Cheekwood’s MOU with Metro Parks through December 2027 and said short-term construction financing is proceeding as planned.
McLeod also noted ongoing neighborhood outreach and a recent neighborhood appreciation night and said Cheekwood is working to meet milestones in the MOU while preparing to shift to the public phase of the campaign.
