The Sun City West Governing Board on Nov. 20 authorized staff to solicit a request for quote (RFQ) for a full end‑to‑end review of all association policies to resolve duplication, ensure statutory compliance and create consistent structure and format.
Director Alan Schleimer moved for the board to obtain an RFQ and explained the distinction between an RFQ and a request for proposal: an RFQ is information-seeking and does not obligate the board to proceed to contract, whereas an RFP implies intent to select a proposal for follow-through. "Request for quote is one, request for proposal is the other," Schleimer said, adding the RFQ would allow the board to evaluate scope, financial and timing requirements before deciding whether to pursue the work.
Directors noted the likely cost and staff effort required — one director warned of "sticker shock" — and President Novello said the RFQ results would inform winter budget discussions and provide the board options for whether to proceed.
The board approved the motion by roll-call vote and staff will solicit quotes to assess feasibility and cost.
