The Danville CCSD 118 board voted Dec. 17 to reapprove updates to its 10-year health, life and safety survey and to pursue a school-maintenance matching grant to replace bleachers at Mead Park and Liberty.
A facilities representative said the district revised a prior submission from five years ago; after removing completed projects the current full-survey estimate if everything were done would be about $3.6 million. The representative told trustees much of the larger backlog has already been addressed. The board asked whether the report equates to deferred maintenance; the presenter said many items had been completed and that remaining items are being scheduled.
The board also discussed a $50,000 matching grant for two bleacher replacements. The presenter gave a total project estimate of $122,971 and said the district's share would be about $72,971; the project would be budgeted in the next fiscal year and is part of a state co-op bid, so a separate district bid was not required. Trustees approved moving forward.
What happens next: Facilities staff will plan projects, coordinate use of state-co-op quotes, and program the district's matching funds into next year's budget.
