The Washington County Board of Commissioners on Dec. 9 opened the first of two required engrossment hearings on Ordinance 908, a proposed amendment to the county’s comprehensive framework plan that would adopt or update boundaries for Raleigh Hills Town Center, Sunset Town Center and Washington Square Regional Center. After a staff presentation, the board voted to continue the hearing to Jan. 6, 2026, to allow further review.
Suzanne Savin, senior planner in Land Use and Transportation, told the board the ordinance is intended to “comply with state and Metro requirements” and that Metro staff identified issues with the originally filed regional center boundary map. To address those issues, staff proposed amending the map to remove mapped extents of the regional center within city limits and provided proposed ordinance amendments to the board materials. Savin said staff recommended the board conduct the first public hearing and continue the matter to the second required hearing on Jan. 6.
No members of the public signed up to testify during the hearing. Chair Harrington asked for continuation to a date certain; the motion carried unanimously.
