ANDOVER — At the end of the meeting council members shared community updates and personal remarks. Council member Judy O'Kady thanked outgoing members Phil and Mike for their service and congratulated Phil on the birth of his son, Jordan Tucker Hamilton. "He will be very missed," O'Kady said, and encouraged colleagues and residents to stay engaged.
Council member Paul reported on attending the National League of Cities summit in Salt Lake City, highlighting sessions on public engagement and artificial intelligence and said he will post a recap for constituents.
Other announcements included Chamber events (a 'Jingle Mingle' with tickets available and a Patterson Foundation 1-to-1 donation match through Dec. 3), a "Hometown Christmas" event at City Hall on Dec. 11, and the ribbon-cutting completion of a Rails-to-Trails segment connecting to Augusta with a future four-mile extension planned. City public-works staff told the council that holiday lighting at Andover Central Park is in final stages and expected to be switched on the Monday after Thanksgiving.
Council also discussed the possibility of recording workshops for public viewing in the future to improve transparency and accessibility.
What happens next: Staff will follow up on the request to explore workshop recording options and publish community-event details through the city's usual communication channels.
