Committee approves floor repairs, CHA invoices and schedules permits and AV upgrades

The Properties & Facilities Committee on Dec. 3 approved a package of small capital payments and maintenance work and voted to advance two floor-repair requests to the full board.

Speaker 7 presented two repair requests: a Smithfield Elementary gym floor sand-and-refinish after a sprinkler leak, estimated at $12,408, and a JM Hill hallway floor repair after a roof leak, estimated at $3,988. Both projects were described as feasible to complete over the winter break if the committee and the full board approve funding. Committee members noted the Smithfield claim falls under the district deductible and asked staff to route approvals to the full board for final authorization.

Staff also listed CHA invoice items and small payments across buildings and projects, including sprinkler replacement ($1,395.85), JTL data network improvements (items ranging from $317.67 to $44,309.90), a Smithfield boiler line ($242.90), boardroom AV upgrades ($505.47), North Site transportation building items ($1,562.50) and South High stadium equipment replacement ($4,961). The committee moved, seconded and approved CHA invoices 1–6 and the listed payment applications.

Josh updated the committee that Lehman Studio and JTL Studio drawings have been resubmitted for permit review and that reviewers provided preliminary comments which were addressed; a certificate of insurance is required for in-house work and comments are expected within two weeks. Staff also confirmed the boardroom AV upgrade work is scheduled to start Jan. 5 and complete around Jan. 19 so the boardroom will be available for meetings by late January.

The committee made a motion and voted to approve the Smithfield and JM Hill floor repairs and adjourned the meeting. Items approved by the committee will be forwarded to the full board for ratification.
