Council names deputy mayor and approves outside‑agency appointments for 2026

Council approved the slate; council then considered appointments to the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) separately and, after discussion about representation, approved continuing the prior appointments with a 4–1 vote.
Deputy Mayor Melendez emphasized her interest in remaining on Clean Energy Alliance and SANDAG and noted regional priorities such as Lithium Valley and energy issues; councilmembers expressed support for continued regional engagement.
