Board approves New Year's permit for OCI Pizza King and VFW Post permit after recusal

The Alcohol Beverage Board approved two special-privilege New Year's permit requests during its Dec. 11 meeting.
Board administrator Tammy Hildebrand presented two New Year's permit applicants: OCI Pizza King (routine annual request) and VFW Post 2632 (Notchville/California). The chairman recused himself from the VFW decision because of membership ties; the remaining voting members convened and approved OCI's permit first, then took up the VFW request. A motion to approve the VFW Post permit (extending service hours to 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2026) passed after a motion and second by board members.
The board discussed meeting-quorum constraints and noted that, where a voting member must abstain for conflict, a special meeting or alternates may be required for other agenda items. Approved permit applicants were reminded to comply with permit conditions and any reporting requirements that accompany extended-hours events.
