Freestone County court approves $550,000 vehicle protection grant and several administrative measures

A county presenter (S7) described the grant (referenced in the meeting as Criminal Justice Division grant number 5677301) as a no‑match award totaling roughly $550,000 to cover bullet‑resistant windshields, side glass and door panels and associated installation for patrol vehicles. The presenter said the county expects the grant to cover purchase and installation costs and noted they would need storage for removed windshields so they could be reused in replacement vehicles when practical. The court moved, seconded and approved the resolution to apply for and accept the grant.
On county finance and administration, the treasurer (S3) presented reconciliations and reported account balances for the period ending Oct. 31: the treasurer reported the general fund at $6,000,273,111.12, ARPA funds at $63,464.68 and the textbook investment account at $4,000,303,679.03; the treasurer said accounts are balanced and reconciled for the presented period. Commissioners accepted the treasurer’s reports as presented.
The court also approved a proposal to pay a vendor for Affordable Care Act (ACA) 1095 filing services (ACA/ETC) at a county cost of $2,508 annually for the filing period referenced in the packet; the motion to approve the ACA‑ETC proposal passed. Commissioners accepted newly filed bonds and moved to approve a road‑use agreement for Precinct 4 while tabling similar agreements for Precincts 1 and 3 pending further review and signatures.
Other routine items included departmental updates and scheduling for the county’s employee Christmas lunch on Dec. 17. The court announced it would move into executive session after the open meeting; no additional public votes on these administrative matters were recorded beyond the approvals noted above.
