The Freestone County Commissioners Court handled a mix of routine business and approvals during its meeting.
The court voted to approve a replat in Southern Oaks combining three lots into one after confirming paperwork and tax payment. The minutes from the Dec. 3, 2025 regular meeting were approved. Budget transfers and payroll actions were carried by motion. The court approved acceptance of a certification (with a noted $100 donation exception) and accepted routine reports from the justice of the peace offices, county extension and senior services.
On personnel and benefits, commissioners approved adding $5,000 to the salary for the 77th district court reporter after a motion and vote. The court also approved county pre‑65 retiree insurance policy language to permit MASA supplemental coverage at the retiree’s expense under county terms. District card fees for 2026 were accepted. The court approved a mutual aid/deployment agreement to streamline memoranda of understanding for mutual assistance and reimbursement when the county deploys or accepts out‑of‑county aid.
Several items — including a maintenance agreement for the courtroom audio recorder and inter‑county inmate housing contracts — were discussed and will be followed up administratively. The court took a 15‑minute recess at the end of the session.
