At the start of the meeting, York County Council called forward several appointees to be sworn into boards and commissions and expressed appreciation for volunteer service. Appointees named in the record included Andy Jones and Glenn Burnett (Board of Disabilities and Special Needs), Kalia Jamrock (Building Board of Appeals), Jack Allen (Oakdale Fire Tax District Board), James Fitzpatrick and Edward Stewart (Culture and Heritage Commission), and Zach Williams (Catawba Regional Workforce Investment Board).
Council also recognized Alan Horton for 23 years of service in equipment maintenance with York County. Horton was praised for reliability and helping colleagues; he stated he plans to spend retirement time with family and grandchildren.
The council thanked all volunteers and wished Horton well in retirement.
