Northfield Selectboard authorizes VLCT to recruit interim and permanent town leaders

Board members moved and seconded a consolidated motion to execute the three contracts with VLCT; after brief questions from the board about scope and background checks, the Selectboard voted in favor with no objections. VLCT representative Bill Fraser told the board the full recruitment process typically takes "4 to 5 months, honestly," and said VLCT would work with the board to set up a hiring committee and community outreach.
Fraser described contract structure and fees: "The part time rate is $80 per hour," he said, and "the full time rate is a flat fee of $12,000." He also told the board that more exhaustive background checks (criminal, finance, social media) are available as additional expenses and would be arranged as part of the services if the board requests them.
Board members said signing the agreements would allow VLCT to begin outreach immediately and to help the town identify interim coverage while the permanent search runs. The board asked staff to provide clean copies of the contracts for signatures.
