Residents urge clearer reassessment notices, Juneteenth funding and other local priorities during public comment

Joanne Thompson Clarkson said she and several neighbors received reassessment notices late and recommended that the county require whoever conducts reassessments to provide the county administrator with copies before notices are mailed so taxpayers have sufficient time to file an appeal.
Edith Napier, speaking for the Nelson County Juneteenth Celebration Committee, requested a recurring $5,000 county budget contribution to support the fourth annual Juneteenth celebration scheduled for Saturday, June 20, 2026 at 3 p.m., saying the funding would help expand programming and educational outreach.
Other commenters offered appreciation for county services and schools, urged reconsideration of speed‑monitoring cameras at schools, asked for a project tab for the Wildrose Solar Farm on the county website, and recalled the long service of retiring Supervisor Tommy Harvey.
