Arkansas City commissioners authorized two contracts totaling $45,551.60 to rehabilitate the Ag Lift Station, staff said.
Part 1, for radio/RTU equipment to upgrade from legacy radios to cellular communications, was presented as a reliability and future-proofing measure; staff recommended RE Petrati (as cited in the materials) to supply materials and installation for an amount not to exceed $22,087. “It’s going to be upgrading it from radios to cells, which is a significant upgrade for us,” the presenter said.
Part 2 covers pumps, some piping work and reinstallation of a ventilation exhaust that had been removed; staff recommended FTC Equipment for materials and services not to exceed $23,464.60. Staff noted the ventilation exhaust is important for removing hydrogen sulfide (H2S) gas when personnel work inside the station in winter.
Commissioners moved and approved both resolutions authorizing the two procurements; staff said the total came in well under earlier estimates and indicated the work had been budgeted.
