Machesney Park engineer says posted speed limit on Route 251 appears to have been lowered; staff to follow up

Village Engineer Chris Dapkins told the Board of Trustees that posted speed limits on Route 251 between Wilson Avenue and Windsor appear to have been reduced in the department’s plans and that the change surprised both him and the design engineer.
"I was a bit surprised, and it sounds like some of you are aware as well, to see that the speed limits on 251 starting at Wilson Avenue going down to Windsor were reduced from 40 or 45 miles an hour down to 40 miles an hour," Dapkins said. He described the reduction as appearing in the plans and said he would follow up with the responsible department and connect trustees or residents with the right contacts for complaints.
A trustee asked whether the typographical error was on the village’s plans or the department’s; Dapkins replied the change appeared in the department’s plans and reiterated he would investigate and report back.
The board did not take formal action during open session on the matter; the engineer said he would provide findings to trustees when available.
