"Without going into too much detail, basically, we are correcting some scrivener's errors," Jelen said, and noted a recent state house bill affecting stormwater required code adjustments. She added that some triggers in the code currently apply in places that do not make sense in practice and that staff plan to coordinate with Parks & Rec and the Highway Department to update the county's alternative transportation map so sidewalk requirements align with local planning.
Jelen said one specific change removes a sidewalk trigger for a particular corridor on the county's map; she described the change as part of a set of text edits and said the item has been presented to the Plan Commission but has not yet been forwarded to the commissioners.
Commissioners asked clarifying questions and agreed staff should place the text amendment on the Dec. 11 agenda so council members can review it in greater detail.
No formal vote on the ordinance occurred during the work session; staff said they would return with the item at a regular meeting where public comment opportunities will be available.
