Council approves Ferguson Road sewer change order; digester tank damage repair timeline pending

The director of environmental services recommended approval of change order number 2 in the amount of $11,397.54 for additional work required to remove and restore the roadway to PennDOT standards along Ferguson Road; the council approved the change order on a roll-call vote. The director confirmed the change order has been paid.
Council also discussed damage to a digester tank caused when a third-party contractor delivering stone backed into it. The director said the contractor is responsible for repairs and that the manufacturer must fabricate large glass-infused steel panels in Illinois; a repair schedule is not yet available. Officials said draining the tank and handling roughly a half-million gallons of sewage during repairs will be a challenge for staff.
In a separate construction progress report on a large site project, the township’s representative said the project — described in the meeting as about a $60 million undertaking — has progressed well but still has 12 priority punch-list items. The representative estimated substantial completion sometime late in 2026 with final closeout expected in 2028 and noted recent cost increases tied to change-order drawdowns.
