Monroe County commissioners voted to approve the remaining awards from the 2025 Sofia Travis Community Service grant cycle and to authorize an elected-official bond for the county surveyor.
Unidentified Speaker 4 moved to approve the remaining Sofia Travis grant agreements, citing county general and donation fund lines and a Sofia Travis account total of $10,050. Ms. Turner King explained the three contracts were the remaining awards in the grant cycle and identified the recipients as Grace Center, Harrodsburg Heritage Days and Girls Inc. She said each organization will receive a share of the $10,050 from the Sofia Travis account and an additional $1,000 from the council donation line, funds the Community Foundation collected in memory of Cheryl Munson.
The motion to approve the Sofia Travis grants was seconded, put to a voice vote and carried 3-0.
Later in the meeting the board approved an elected-official bond for the county surveyor; the motion carried 3-0. The meeting concluded with a scheduling announcement: the board’s next meeting will be Dec. 18 at 1:00 p.m. in the NET U Hill Room.
