Lindsey said the quoted $16,489 would cover replacement of the 12 body cameras and an additional $9,358 would cover two in‑car systems; the vendor is Midwest Public Safety, which the department currently uses and said is its sole GTAC platform provider.
Lindsey said the purchase is budgeted in the police 2026 capital improvement line ($26,000) and that the department did not obtain competing system comparisons because Midwest Public Safety is currently integrated across the agency’s workflows and evidence‑sharing platform.
Council members asked about operational impacts while cameras were repaired or replaced; Lindsey said squad cars retain in‑car systems but unmarked patrol vehicles lack in‑car units. The council moved, seconded and approved the purchase by voice vote.
No competitive system comparisons were presented; staff said funds are in the upcoming CIP and the order would be placed promptly to avoid anticipated price increases.
