Councilmembers report progress on securing jail beds, urge county coordination

Councilmember Coleman and Councilmember Basheer Tash thanked staff and noted that additional jail-bed capacity would assist enforcement and help connect individuals to resources. Basheer Tash characterized the effort as a way to "hold individuals that are terrorizing our community accountable" while also providing connections to services.
The mayor and vice mayor offered condolences to those affected by international incidents and thanked the Bakersfield Police Department for security during religious commemorations. The council adjourned at 6:06 p.m.
