Montgomery ISD choirs perform; students honored as National Merit commended and semifinalists

At the Dec. 16 meeting, the Montgomery Madrigals and Lake Creek Chamber Choir performed and the board recognized multiple National Merit commended students and semifinalists from Montgomery High and Lake Creek High. Several students were named and their academic plans noted.
Trustees paused district business on Dec. 16 to recognize student achievement and enjoy performances from the Montgomery Madrigals and the Lake Creek Chamber Choir.
District staff invited Kelsey Quintana and Cameron Carnley to introduce the student ensembles. "The first piece that you're gonna hear from the Lake Creek Chamber Choir... is called Gaudete," a choir director said before performances. The choirs performed pieces including Gaudete and Cantate Domino; staff noted that Montgomery ISD finished first and second at a recent Market Street Sing Off.
Administrators also recognized National Merit commended students and semifinalists from Montgomery High School and Lake Creek High School and highlighted individual students' accomplishments and plans. Staff named commended students Elson Chan, Luke Chaney, John Hart and Brooke Peterson and referenced finalists including Matthew Fitzgerald and Julia LeWearns. Presenters noted academic honors, extracurricular involvement and college plans.
Board members thanked staff and congratulated students for their achievements; the meeting then returned to business.
