St John council accepts Core Construction's contractor recommendations for Hartland Park expansion

Detmore said one package (steel) was being rebid and listed the recommended firms for the remaining packages, including Pangier Corporation (general trades); Kevin Nugent Construction (building concrete); Goff Inc. (masonry); EC Babilla Inc. (roofing); Valley Fire Protection Systems (fire suppression); Reichheld Plumbing (plumbing); Mechanical Concepts (HVAC); Sweeny Electric (electrical); Kuran Contracting (earthwork); Milestone Contractors (asphalt paving); Concrete by Wagner (site concrete); and Reichheld Plumbing (site utilities).
"Great news is we are within budget that the town has presented to us, and really looking forward to getting started," Detmore said. He added that the procurement attracted "over 70 bids" and that Core would prepare contracts and begin the submittal process.
Town Manager Bill Menesopoulos told the council that Core and engineering reviewers (SEH and CSK) had examined the bids and recommended acceptance. The council recorded a motion to accept the recommendations; a roll-call vote showed Christian Jorgensen, Mike (surname unclear in the transcript), Wayne Pandinis and Anne Oster voting yes, with one member absent. The president announced the motion carried, 4-0.
When asked about timing, Detmore estimated mobilization "within 2 months," explaining that contract preparation and submittal approvals typically take about a month before earth-moving begins.
Council members then moved to reports and correspondence. Town Manager Menesopoulos had no further items. Council member Wayne Pandinis reported that the town's Christmas-in-the-park event was well attended and praised public works crews for leaf pickup efforts despite early snow. The president relayed positive feedback from school bus drivers about plowing. The clerk/treasurer reported no items, and the council adjourned following a unanimous roll-call vote among present members.
The council did not specify funding sources or contract award dates at the meeting; staff said contracts would be drafted and presented for execution as the next step.
