The Black Hawk County Board of Supervisors on Dec. 23 approved a claims and payments resolution authorizing the county auditor to issue payments against approved claims. The board reviewed a payment list totaling $727,842.75 and approved the resolution by voice/roll call vote.
Among the larger items identified in the payment list were the final contract payment to Farber Specialty Vehicles for the county’s mobile health clinic (reported as $385,522) and multiple capital vehicle payments (approximately $82,990.15) for items included in the county’s capital improvement program. The board was told the remainder of the payment list "appears to be in order." (payment totals and vendor names derive from the board office presentation.)
The board also approved a travel request for Supervisor Justin Brant to attend the ISAC statewide supervisors meeting in Des Moines on Jan. 29, 2026, at a cost of $426; one board member recorded an abstention on the travel item.
Separately, the board directed the county auditor to advertise for a public hearing and bid opening — scheduled for 9:05 a.m. on Jan. 13, 2026, in Boardroom 201 at the Black Hawk County Courthouse — to accept bids for the purchase of steel for project L‑3011 (Oxley Road bridge, project number 74825).
Other routine business: the board approved the Dec. 16 minutes and passed the consent agenda without items pulled for separate consideration. The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn.
