FOLEY, Minn. — After discussing proposed updates from several county departments, the Benton County Board adopted a new fee schedule for 2026.
Highlights include: - Assessor/Recorder: administrative changes and statutory increases; new $10 parcel assessment (two townships per parcel) and a $75 judicial safety masking fee in the recorder’s office. - Planning and zoning: septic‑permit adjustments including an increase (most permits +$50) and alignment of Type 4/5 inspection fees with contracted inspection costs plus a $50 staff processing fee. - Parks: Lakeview Center rental increases (resident and nonresident tiers), changes to daily/weekly/seasonal camping rates (seasonal camping phased toward $2,000 per season), and shelter rental increases for resident/nonresident tiers. - Sheriff/jail: increase to supplemental urinalysis charge ($45 for additional comprehensive panel) and a small increase in the sheriff‑sale fee from $60 to $70 to better reflect labor costs.
County staff said changes reflect contract costs, statutory adjustments and an effort to keep fees competitive with neighboring jurisdictions. No members of the public addressed the board during the public hearing portion; the board adopted the schedule, effective Jan. 1, 2026.
