Aberdeen council ratifies three-year collective bargaining agreement covering 2026–2028

The City of Aberdeen council unanimously approved a three-year collective bargaining agreement for 2026–2028 on Nov. 24, adopting Resolution No. 25-11-01R to ratify terms negotiated between city staff and union representatives.

City Manager Dave McNeil described the agreement as a framework addressing wages and working conditions reached through multiple meetings between city negotiators and union representatives. "This agreement reflects our shared commitment to supporting a strong, collaborative and productive workforce that continues to provide a high quality service to our community," McNeil said.

McNeil and other staff recognized the union leadership that took part in negotiations, naming Eric Miller, Charles Atkin, John Haddock and Sean Colleran. McNeil told the council the contract will take effect in January for a three-year term. Council members asked clarifying questions about aligning contract cycles; staff said police and fire currently have one year remaining and the city’s goal is to synchronize bargaining cycles in coming years.

The council voted by roll call; the minutes record all members present voting "aye." The resolution text reviewed by the council was labeled 25-11-01R and staff recommended approval.

The approval establishes the contract term and authorizes city officials to implement the agreed terms; the city said it will continue bargaining with other represented groups on a staggered schedule.

No appeals, amendments or dissent were recorded during the council action. The council adjourned at the end of the meeting.
