WASHINGTON COUNTY, Texas — During its Dec. 9, 2025 session the Washington County Commissioners Court took a package of routine and administrative actions including an appointment to the historical commission, several procurement authorizations, contract approvals and routine financial actions.
Appointment: The court approved the appointment of Doug Smith to the Washington County Historical Commission to serve the remainder of the 2025–2026 term after a commissioner recommended him and noted his work on a "history in the classroom" project. Smith was introduced and thanked for volunteering; he mentioned he is a beekeeper. The appointment passed by voice vote.
