Manassas Park adopts FY2026 amended budget and makes appropriations

Following a public hearing and staff presentation, the Manassas Park governing body on Dec. 16 adopted the FY2026 amended budget (A1) and approved related appropriations for the city and schools.
Finance staff summarized the amendment, noting that carryover project funds account for much of the apparent budget adjustments. "Anything in green is an increase to the budget. Anything in red is a decrease to the budget," staff said, adding that the general fund financial impact is about $285,000 when not counting multi‑million‑dollar carryovers.
The governing body moved and approved adoption of the FY26 budget amendment. During the appropriation votes the council clarified numbers on the record and then approved appropriations of $29,108,967 for the city under the FY26 A1 amendment and $17,589,682 for city schools.
Tony Jenkins, the budget manager, presented comparisons between the previously approved FY26 appropriation figure and the A1 amendment so the governing body could confirm the correct appropriation amounts.
Staff said the amendments and appropriations were routine and necessary to allow the city and schools to execute planned programs; the motions passed by voice vote.
