The Kuna City Council approved an update to the Development Services Compliance Inspection form intended to remove duplicate inspections of streetlights and shift primary inspection responsibility to Public Works.
Troy Beheunen (introduced in the meeting as "Troy Beheunen, CUNA DSD") told the council inspectors from two departments were checking the same items at different times, and Planning & Zoning inspections often came too late—after streets, sidewalks and trees were in place—making costly relocations necessary if poles were misplaced. "There was some overlapping, inspections for, subdivisions, both commercial and residential for streetlights," Troy said, and he recommended focusing inspections under Public Works so spacing, placement and illumination are checked at the appropriate time.
A motion to approve the revised Development Services Compliance Inspection form was made and seconded; council voted in favor with no recorded opposition and the motion carried.
What happens next: The updated form will be used by staff to coordinate compliance inspections with Public Works to reduce late-stage corrections and associated costs.
