Walton County board approves construction contracts and public‑health funding; postpones advisory board appointments

Engineering recommended awarding Invitation to Bid No. 2527 for the Driftwood Road and Ellis Road improvement projects to RBM Contracting Services as the lowest responsive and responsible bidder in an amount not to exceed $3,743,685.62; the board approved the award by voice vote. The board also authorized the chair to sign task order 2061 with Half and Associates for professional construction inspection (CEI) services for the same Driftwood and Ellis projects in an amount not to exceed $447,541.
The board accepted the recommendations of the Walton County Overdose Prevention Task Force Review Committee and approved core program funding for fiscal year 2026 in the amount of $467,840. Commissioners voted 5–0 to award that funding as presented.
Commissioner Johns asked for more time to vet applicants for county volunteer advisory boards and moved to continue appointments for one month; the board approved the continuance and extended current appointees' terms until the second meeting in January (motion carried 4–1). Staff noted the terms will begin 2026‑01‑01 rather than December 31 as listed on appointment sheets.
The board also handled routine consent agenda items and adopted the amended meeting agenda at the start of the session.
