City adopts Birmingham Museum strategic plan for 2026–2028

Museum director Leslie Pilac summarized the work that produced the plan, saying the museum reviewed sector best practices, community input and mission requirements over 18 months. A community survey yielded 155 responses and informed three priorities and measurable objectives. The plan calls for a formal review every three years and regular reporting at museum board meetings; museum leadership hopes to begin implementation in January.
A commissioner moved adoption of the resolution; the motion was seconded and the commission approved the plan unanimously.
Pilac said the plan aims to strengthen the museum's programs and accessibility and to expand digitization and outreach.
