Justin, co-host of the Cedar Rapids Comm School District Future Ready podcast, and co-host Isabelle used the district’s final newsletter and podcast of 2025 to highlight student activities, community partnerships, and operational details for the holidays.
The hosts said the Educational Leadership and Support Center will be closed to the public Dec. 22 through Jan. 2, all district offices will be closed Jan. 1, and regular business hours resume Jan. 5. “We will resume our weekly communications on January 8,” Justin said.
The episode also recapped student programming across the district. Justin described elementary PACT students who took part in the eleventh annual Cedar Rapids Elementary Model United Nations, saying students researched countries, wrote position papers and negotiated joint resolutions. Isabelle noted Jefferson’s thirteenth annual holiday dinner served 1,126 meals and thanked local businesses for their support; she singled out Lisa from Pearson’s Florham for donating centerpieces.
The district’s proposed 2026–27 calendar remains open for public feedback. Isabelle said the draft includes a potential May dismissal if no snow days are used, consistent Monday professional learning days and full first and last school days. She directed listeners to the newsletter for the calendar, FAQs and a feedback survey link.
The newsletter will also include a student holiday video and photos from school events, the hosts said. They closed by wishing the community a safe and happy holiday season and reminding listeners that regular updates will resume in January.
